Chabris is situated in a privileged position on the banks of the River Cher, in the Loire Valley of central France. Students who stay with us use the Academy as their base and explore the surrounding towns and countryside during their free time. Many students will want to visit local chateaux and gardens while others will be content quietly discovering the region.

Students on residential courses have access to all the facilities of our lovely home. Bedrooms are on the first floor of the main house, an 18th-century property in the small, market town of Chabris. Guests can also use our gte, converted from the garage and chauffeurs apartment, a self-contained building attached to the main house.

Accommodation is vetted and approved by Gites de France and Alistair Sawday.

Home-cooked meals are taken together in the dining room, with its views of the garden and an original marble fireplace or, weather permitting, in the garden.

Chantal Elliott, a native of Bordeaux, the wine capital of France, is a keen amateur cook and delights in preparing meals from fine, local produce every day. Breakfast is continental; lunch is from the self-service buffet, while the dinner menu changes daily and includes local wine and cheeses. These are friendly, animated affairs with dishes to match the mood.

Lectures are held in the beautiful Finnish log cabin, under the 150 year old Sequoias in the garden. A kitchen next to the classroom provides tea, coffees and soft drinks throughout the working day.
